“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.”

  1. This has to be one of the mystical sentence. when u replace “me” with awaremess or consciousness what you get is the deepest secret of this existence.

  2. Mike H. said,

My family comes first. Especially my children. Period. I will not honor ANY deity who demands otherwise.

It is irrational nonsense like this that drives many away from monotheistic faiths. What could possibly be unworthy about loving, cherishing, and protecting one’s own flesh and blood? How can any sane human being possibly place the (often contradictory) demands of an unseen being before the well-being of his family?

  3. Shannon T. said,

Well if I was Jesus I would pretty mad at that second comment but Im glad he forgives our debts. He died on the cross for you (just so that when you sin that it can be foregiven and etc.). People hated him but he forgave and he wants you to put him first and he will take care of your household because they are capable of hurting you but he never will forsake you. We are so undeserving of his love.
